Terms of service

Last updated 4 September 2026

These are the terms you agree to when you use China & You. The most important one is the first: we arrange companions and interpreting, and we are not a medical provider.

What we are, and what we are not

China & You is a companion and interpreting service. We help you get to a hospital in Beijing, get registered, and understand what is being said while you are there.

We are not a hospital, a clinic, a pharmacy or a medical practice. We do not employ clinicians. Nothing on this site, in our emails or from your companion is medical advice, a diagnosis or a recommendation about your health, and none of it should be used in place of talking to a qualified doctor.

We make no claims about what any visit will do for you. Anyone who tells you otherwise — including anyone claiming to represent us — is not speaking for us.

Any decision about your care is made between you and the practitioner. Your companion interprets that conversation faithfully in both directions and does not add to it, take sides in it, or advise you on it.

What our fee covers

Our fee is $59.90 for each area you ask for help with. Each area adds roughly two hours to the visit. You see the full figure before you send your enquiry, and again in our reply.

It covers:

  • An English-speaking companion with you for the whole visit
  • Interpreting between you and the practitioner
  • Registration and queueing handled on your behalf
  • A written summary of what was said, sent afterwards

What the hospital charges is separate

Our fee does not include the hospital’s registration fee, the consultation fee, the cost of any individual service, or any medicine you are prescribed. Those are the hospital’s prices and you pay them directly, on the day.

Individual items are usually in the ¥80–385 range, and a visit involving several of them can come to around ¥1,725. Those figures are a guide based on what we have seen, not a quote. They can change without notice, they depend entirely on what you and the practitioner decide, and we do not control them.

Your companion will tell you the price of anything before you agree to it, and you can decline any part of it at any point.

Sending an enquiry does not book anything

The form is an enquiry. It creates no contract, books nothing and charges nothing. Someone reads it and replies within 24 hours with a proposed hospital, a time and the full cost. A booking exists only once you have confirmed those details in writing and we have confirmed back.

We may decline an enquiry. The usual reasons are that we cannot cover your dates, that what you are asking for is outside what a companion service can do, or that we think you should speak to your own doctor first. We will tell you plainly rather than leave you waiting.

What we need from you

  • Tell us the truth about how you are feeling, so the right practitioner sees you.
  • Tell us before the visit if you are pregnant or think you might be, are under 18, are taking prescription medicine, have had surgery in the last three months, or are being treated for an ongoing condition at home.
  • Bring your passport. The hospital cannot register you without it.
  • Arrive at the time we agree, or tell us as soon as you know you cannot.

This service is for adults. You must be 18 or over to use it.

Changing or cancelling

Before you confirm a booking, there is nothing to cancel. Just tell us you have changed your mind, or ignore our email.

After you confirm, email hello@chinaandyou.me as early as you can and we will move the visit or cancel it. If we have to cancel — the practitioner is unavailable, the hospital changes its rules, or anything else on our side — you owe us nothing and anything you have paid us is returned in full.

Where our responsibility ends

We are responsible for arranging the visit and for interpreting accurately. If we fail at that, tell us and we will put it right or return our fee.

We are not responsible for the care the hospital provides, for its prices, its waiting times or its decisions, or for the outcome of anything you choose to have done. Those sit with the hospital and the practitioner, who are independent of us.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Beyond those, our liability is limited to the fee you paid us for the visit in question.

Content on this site

The text and design of this site belong to China & You. Descriptions of treatments are there to tell you what to expect during a visit — what happens, how long it takes, whether it leaves marks. They are not statements about what any of it does.

Complaints, and the law that applies

If something goes wrong, email hello@chinaandyou.me. We answer complaints within five working days and we would much rather hear about a problem than not.

These terms are governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China, where the service is provided. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protections you have under the law of the country you live in.

Changes

We may update these terms. The version that applies to your visit is the one published when you confirmed your booking, and we will not change it afterwards.
