Plan a visit

A more personal way into China.

The real China — not just seen, but experienced firsthand.

Traditional Chinese medicine is part of ordinary life in Beijing, and it is open to you too. The hard part is not finding a hospital — it is the registration desk, the queue and the conversation. We send someone who speaks your language and handles all three.

Nothing is booked and nothing is charged when you send the form. A person reads it and replies within 24 hours.

What we offer

In person, in Beijing

Someone with you at the hospital

$59.90per area you want help with, about 2 hours each

A companion meets you, gets you registered, waits with you and interprets the whole conversation, so you always know what is being said and what happens next.

  • We pick a hospital that is used to international visitors
  • Registration and paperwork done for you
  • Everything interpreted, in both directions
  • A written summary afterwards, so you can take it home

Online, before you travel

A conversation to work out what suits you

Freea short call, no obligation

Not sure whether this is worth your time, or how it would fit into a trip you have already planned? Tell us what you are thinking and we will talk it through honestly, including when the answer is that we cannot help.

  • What a visit actually involves, start to finish
  • What it is likely to cost you in total
  • How much of your day it takes
  • Whether it makes sense to go at all

How a visit works

Four steps, and you can stop at any of them.

  1. You tell us what is bothering you

A few checkboxes, in plain language. No medical vocabulary required, and nothing you write is shared with anyone outside the visit.

  2. A person reads it and writes back

Not an automated reply. Someone reads what you sent and answers within 24 hours with a suggested hospital, a time and the full cost.

  3. You decide, then we arrange it

You confirm only once you have seen the details. If it does not sound right, say so and we will change it or tell you it is not worth doing.

  4. Your companion meets you there

They handle registration, wait with you, interpret the conversation both ways and tell you what anything costs before you agree to it.

What we will and will not say

We arrange the visit, not the outcome

We are a companion and interpreting service. We are not a medical provider, we do not give medical advice, and we will not tell you what any visit will do for you. The practitioner speaks for themselves, and we translate it faithfully — including when the answer is discouraging.

You hear the real price first

Our fee and the hospital’s charges are separate, and both are on this page before you send anything. Your companion tells you the cost of each item at the hospital before you agree to it.

Your details stay with the visit

What you tell us goes to the practitioner who needs it and nobody else. We do not sell it, we do not advertise with it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

What it costs

Two separate bills, and we want you to see both before you decide.

You pay us

$59.90per area you want help with

Each area adds about 2 hours to the visit. You see the full figure before you send anything.

This covers:

  • An English-speaking companion with you for the whole visit
  • Interpreting between you and the practitioner
  • Registration and queueing handled on your behalf
  • A written summary of what was said, sent afterwards

You pay the hospital

¥80–385per item, typically

Paid directly at the hospital on the day. A visit with several items can reach around ¥1,725. These are the hospital’s prices, not ours, and they can change.

Our fee does not include:

  • The hospital registration fee
  • The practitioner consultation fee
  • Any individual services you decide to have
  • Any medicine you are prescribed
  • Your travel to and from the hospital

Your companion will tell you what something costs before you agree to it, and you can decline anything at any point.

Questions people ask

Will this help with what I have?
We cannot answer that, and we would be wrong to try. We are not clinicians. What we can tell you is what a visit involves, what the practitioner is likely to ask you, and what it will cost. If you want a view on whether it is appropriate for you, that is a question for your own doctor and for the practitioner on the day.
Do I need to speak Chinese?
No. Your companion interprets the whole conversation in both directions, including the parts you would otherwise have to guess at — what a form says, what a receptionist is asking for, what the practitioner just recommended and why.
What do I need to bring?
Your passport, which the hospital needs to register you, and a way to pay. We will send you the full list once we have confirmed a time and a hospital, so nothing is a surprise on the morning.
How much will the hospital charge me?
Individual items are usually in the ¥80–385 range, and a visit with several of them can come to around ¥1,725. That is the hospital’s money, not ours, and the exact figure depends on what you and the practitioner decide. Your companion will tell you the price of each item before you agree to it.
How long does it take?
Plan for roughly two hours per area you have asked about, including registration and waiting. We will give you a realistic window when we write back, and we would rather over-estimate it than have you miss something else in your day.
Can I change my mind?
Yes. Sending the form books nothing and charges nothing. Even after we have arranged a time you can tell us to cancel, and you can decline anything at the hospital itself. If plans change, email hello@chinaandyou.me.
What happens to what I tell you?
It goes to the person arranging your visit and to the practitioner who needs it, and nowhere else. We keep it only as long as we need it, we never sell it, and you can ask us to delete it whenever you like.
When will I hear back?
Within 24 hours, from a person rather than an automated system. If a day passes with nothing, check your spam folder and then email us directly — it means something went wrong on our side.
